Lloyd Shikin, ’53, graduated from J.H.S. 47 and then attended N.Y. Printing High School. He worked for the New York Times for 26 years, until his retirement in 2000. He has served as our former archivist and board member, and has worked as a substitute paraprofessional for 11 years. He also was active with the 100th Anniversary Celebration of “47.”

“The ‘47’ School is like a second home to me, in my heart,” he says. “He credits his wife, Phyllis, for providing great support to him, and his fellow alumni and friends for their support as well. He adds, “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the award committee choosing me out of all the alumni that are equally deserving of this prestigious award. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

In recognition of and appreciation for his devotion in working closely with the Deaf in the Deaf community, “47” Alumni Association is honored to present the 2008 “Man of the Year” to Lloyd Shikin.
