June Rothenberg McMahon attended JHS 47 from 1955 to 1963. She was a member of the class of 1968 but left in 1963 in the fourth grade to attend Public Schools. She graduated from Gallaudet College in 1974 and received her Master Degree from Western Maryland College 1974. For 24 years, she worked at the American School for the Deaf and in public schools in Connecticut. She became assistant principal for the last 13 years in the Upper school at American School for the Deaf. She is presently teaching in an elementary school in Palm Beach County, Florida.
June is involved in different organizations both in Connecticut and Florida. She was the president of the Connecticut Association of the Deaf and the Connecticut Chapter of the Gallaudet Alumni Association. She is now on the Board of the Florida Association of the Deaf and will co chair the convention in May 2009. She is also the Eastern Regional Representative of the Gallaudet University Alumni association. June is married to Robert McMahon for 23 years and is now living in Boynton Beach with two Boston terriers.
In recognition of and appreciation for her devotion in working closely with the Deaf in the Deaf Community, “47” Alumni Association of the Deaf is honored to present the “Woman of the Year” Award to June Rothenberg McMahon.
